CONA Awards Four Scholarships to High School Grads
Spartanburg, SC July 11, 2018- CONA announced today that four High School graduates were the recipients of its Annual W. Howard Tiller, Jr. Memorial Scholarship.
Scholarship selection criteria are based on a student’s academic achievement, community service and his or her interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. The $1,000 scholarship was offered to graduating seniors of the schools where CONA serves as their team physicians: Spartanburg High School, Dorman High School, Byrnes High School, Woodruff High School and Limestone College.
A graduate of Woodruff High School. Mossbrook has had many achievements including: National Beta Club, National Honors Society, Palmetto Boys State delegate and Valedictorian of Scholars Academy at USC Upstate. Mossbrook will attend Clemson University in the fall.
A graduate of Dorman High School. Ashley’s accomplishments include: team captain of Dorman Varsity Golf, Dorman Medical Society, National Beta Club and National Honors Society. Noah will attend Clemson University in the fall.
A graduate of James F. Byrnes High School. Gurley has a variety of achievements such as: National Honors Society, National Beta Club, Captain of Byrnes Drum Line and group leader of Kentucky Missions. Gurley will attend Clemson University in the fall.
A graduate of Spartanburg High School. Frank has had many achievements including: team captain of Spartanburg High School Cross Country, President of Spartanburg High School French Club and German Club, and National Honors Society. Louise will attend Clemson University in the fall.
The one-year scholarship is named after the late W. Howard Tiller, Jr., M.D. A native of Spartanburg, Dr. Tiller completed degrees at Wake Forest University and Duke University. Dr. Tiller practiced orthopaedics for more than two decades and was a partner with CONA from 1998 until his unexpected death in 2003 at the age of 51.
